Summary

The Government of Punjab needed a broadcast-grade SMD wall in its briefing room for press conferences, official addresses, and televised announcements. The wall had to be camera-correct (no scan-line moiré), colour-accurate to broadcast standards, and operable through routine government communications schedules. SMDSOLUTIONS specified fine-pitch P1.5 indoor SMD, installed it inside a working government facility security envelope, and calibrated it against the broadcast cameras the room actually uses.

The challenge

What the client needed.

  • Broadcast camera correctness: any scan-line moiré or refresh artefact on TV is unacceptable for official government addresses. Refresh rate and processor genlock both had to be specified for camera capture.
  • Colour accuracy: official branding has fixed colour values. The wall had to reproduce them inside a tight deltaE tolerance under broadcast lighting.
  • Government facility security: install crew clearance, controlled access to the briefing room, escorted material movements, and after-hours-only work windows.
  • Operational reliability: a wall used for live press conferences cannot fail mid-broadcast. Redundant power, hot-swappable modules, and standby processor were all in scope.
  • Long-term content workflow: government communications staff — not LED specialists — needed to operate the wall day to day for routine announcements.

  • Redundant power supplies, hot-swappable modules, and a standby processor configured for failover during live events.
  • Cleared install crew, escorted material flow, and after-hours-only install windows agreed with the government facility security team.
  • Communications-staff training programme: 4-hour hands-on workshop covering routine content scheduling, brightness adjustment, basic fault triage, and emergency power-down procedure.

Specific questions answered for this project.

  • Television cameras capture at a fixed shutter rate. If the LED wall refresh rate is too low or asynchronous to the camera, scan-line moiré appears as visible bands moving across the wall on the broadcast feed. For official government addresses there is no tolerance for that — 7,680 Hz refresh and full genlock to the room camera system eliminates the issue.
