Digital Billboards — engineered for visibility, sealed for Pakistani weather.
Turnkey roadside, façade, and plaza digital billboards. SMDSOLUTIONS scopes the location, designs the structure, supplies the LED, manages installation, and supports the billboard through its full lifecycle — across every major city in Pakistan.
A digital billboard is an outdoor LED display engineered for roadside or building-mount advertising. Brightness ranges from 6,500 to 10,000 nits to remain readable in Pakistani sun. Pixel pitches of P6.6, P8, and P10 are standard for highway and main-road billboards; P4–P5 is used for closer-viewed plazas. SMDSOLUTIONS delivers complete digital billboards including LED supply, civil works, structural engineering, content workflow, and on-site SLA support.
Built for purpose, not retro-fitted.
Digital billboards are large-format outdoor LED installations replacing static printed media. Hardware is identical to general outdoor SMD screens — IP65 sealing, high brightness, weather-rated cabinets — but the use case shapes everything from pixel pitch selection to content workflow and rotation policy.
A complete digital billboard project always combines four things: the LED itself, the structure that holds it (usually custom steel), the civil foundation under that structure, and the content-management workflow that schedules and uploads ads. We deliver all four as a single turnkey scope. Splitting them across multiple contractors is the most common cause of late, over-budget billboard projects.
Premium billboards include redundant power, surge protection, light-sensor auto-dimming for night-time operation, and on-site SLAs covering both hardware and content workflow. The LED is a small share of total uptime risk — power, network, and content failures are equally common.
The right buyer profile.
Digital billboards make sense for outdoor advertising operators, retail plazas, real-estate developers, brand owners with high-visibility locations, fuel-station chains, and shopping-mall operators who want to monetise their façade. The economics depend on traffic count, audience demographics, and content rotation policy — not just hardware specification.
They are not always the right answer. Where audiences are static (waiting in queues, seated in event venues, walking through indoor malls), other LED formats (signage, indoor walls, transparent LED) often work better. Digital billboards are specifically for transient outdoor audiences viewing from a distance.
Where digital billboards earn their place.
Highway & main-road billboards
Long-distance high-traffic roadside billboards — typically P6.6–P10 with redundant power.
Building façade advertising
Building-corner and façade-mount billboards on commercial properties — often P4–P6.6.
Retail plaza & shopping centres
Plaza-mount billboards visible from car parks and entrance roads — typically P5 or P6.6.
Petrol stations & fuel forecourts
Forecourt LED billboards visible to drive-by and stationary forecourt audiences.
Public information displays
Civic-information billboards, transport announcements, and emergency-services public messaging.
Event-venue & stadium exterior
Stadium and concert-venue exterior billboards advertising current and upcoming events.
Real-estate sales & development
On-site digital billboards at real-estate developments showcasing project visualisations.
Outdoor brand activations
Time-limited billboards for sponsorship, product launch, and PR-led campaigns.
Pitches that actually fit this use case.
Pixel pitch is the single biggest spec decision. We recommend the pitches below for typical digital billboards deployments. Talk to us before locking it in — closest viewing distance is the deciding factor.

Why this option earns its place.
Replaces static printing — content rotates infinitely with no incremental production cost per ad.
Increases inventory — a single billboard can cycle 6–10 advertisers per minute, multiplying revenue per location.
Sunlight-readable brightness with auto-dimming for safe, pleasant night-time operation.
Remote content management — schedule, upload, and review ads without site visits.
Long service life — typically 8–12 years in Pakistani outdoor conditions with proper maintenance.
Real-time campaign measurement — content-management platforms support proof-of-play reporting for ad sales.
Plan ahead.
Permitting and local authority. Outdoor billboard installations need municipal permits, structural engineering sign-off, and (in some jurisdictions) advertising-board licences. We coordinate the engineering paperwork; advertising-licence work is typically client-side.
Brightness and night-time operation. Auto-dimming is essential — running 10,000 nits at night blinds drivers and shortens module life. We commission auto-dimming during install.
Wind load and structure. Roadside billboards face significant wind load, particularly during storms. Structural engineering is a serious line item, not a formality.
Power and grounding. Outdoor billboards draw real power and need clean grounding to protect against lightning. Surge-protection devices are standard on every install.
What changes the price — honestly.
We don't publish flat per-square-foot prices because they mislead. These are the variables that move the bill of materials.
Total LED area
Billboard area is the dominant cost driver. Per-sqft cost falls modestly as size grows but absolute area is the bigger lever.
Pixel pitch
Match pitch to closest typical viewer distance. Highway distances tolerate P10; closer urban locations need P5–P6.6.
Civil & structural
Foundation, custom steel, and rigging are real costs — sometimes 20–30% of total project value.
Auto-dimming & sensors
Light-sensor-based auto-dimming is essential, not optional, for outdoor operation.
Content-management platform
Cloud-based scheduling, proof-of-play, and remote control are different from a basic local controller — confirm whether you need them.
Warranty & SLA
Mission-critical billboards in revenue-generating locations almost always carry on-site SLAs with 24-hour response.
How an SMDSOLUTIONS install actually runs.
Location & traffic survey
Site survey including traffic count, sightline analysis, ambient lighting, structural feasibility, and permit status.
Specification & quote
Pitch, brightness, structure, civil works, content platform, and warranty specified and priced as a single scope.
Permits & engineering
Structural engineer sign-off and municipal permitting coordinated. We handle engineering paperwork end-to-end.
Civil & structural
Foundation pour, steel structure fabrication, and rigging hardware installation.
LED supply & test
Cabinets pre-tested at our facility. Modules bin-matched and aligned per panel before shipment.
Installation
Cabinets lifted, mounted, sealed, wired, and powered up. Auto-dimming sensors calibrated to local lighting.
Content workflow & training
Content-management platform configured. Training delivered to ad-ops team. Proof-of-play reporting set up.
Launch & SLA support
Launch handover, billing-system integration where applicable, and start of warranty / SLA period.
Keep it running for ten years.
LED systems are reliable when designed for the duty cycle and supported with a real maintenance plan. Skipping maintenance is the fastest route to dead pixels and warranty disputes.
- Pre-monsoon inspection — every monsoon season starts with seal, drainage, and grounding checks.
- Quarterly cleaning — cabinet faces, vents, and filters. Pakistani dust loads heat dissipation faster than most outdoor environments.
- Annual brightness and white-balance recalibration — outdoor LED dims faster than indoor; recalibration restores uniformity and detects degradation.
- Continuous remote monitoring — cabinet status, controller health, and content-playback success monitored remotely 24/7.
- Module spare stock — keep 2–3% of module count on-site or at our regional depot. Mean-time-to-repair under 4 hours for SLA contracts.
- Annual structural inspection — torque check on mounting hardware, corrosion check on steel structure, and grounding verification.

- Digital billboard prices vary by location, size, pixel pitch, structural complexity, and content platform. A small plaza-mount P6.6 billboard is meaningfully different from a highway-side P10 billboard with custom steel structure.
