Transparent SMD screens are LED displays built on a fine grid of vertical strips that allow light to pass through the gaps. Transparency typically reaches 60–90 % of glass — the screen is mostly invisible when not displaying content. Pixel pitches of P3.9 to P15.6 are common, depending on viewing distance. Ideal for retail storefronts, car showrooms, museum windows, and architectural media walls where preserving daylight or outward visibility matters as much as the content itself.

Transparent SMD screens are LED video walls built from very fine vertical strips of LEDs mounted on a sparse grid. Between each strip is empty space — typically 60–90% of the panel area — so light, view, and air pass straight through. From outside the screen, content looks vivid and floating. Looking back through the screen, you still see what's behind it.
Two main forms exist. Glass-laminated transparent LED is sealed inside double-glazed glass during fabrication — the screen becomes part of the window itself. Strip-mounted transparent LED uses lightweight aluminium frames mounted in front of existing glass — easier to retrofit and service. Both achieve similar transparency.
Pixel pitch is calculated differently from solid LED — quoted as the spacing between LED columns and rows of LEDs along the strip. P3.9, P7.8, and P10.4 are common indoor transparent pitches; P10.4–P15.6 work for outdoor mall fronts and architectural media façades.

Plan ahead.
Brightness is a real consideration. Transparent LED runs lower peak brightness than solid LED, and behind-screen daylight competes with content. Plan content design (high-contrast graphics, dark backgrounds) accordingly.
Transparent LED is generally indoor or semi-outdoor. True outdoor weatherproof transparent LED exists but is more limited in brightness and pitch. Confirm IP rating during specification.
Service access. Strip-mount transparent LED is typically rear-serviceable, which means leaving working space behind the screen. Plan retail layout around this from day one.
Content design must respect transparency. Fine text and high-detail imagery look poor on transparent LED — bold shapes, motion graphics, and high-contrast content shine.

Higher transparency (more open area between strips) means less LED density and a different cost trade-off than solid LED.
