A 6 × 3 m P2.5 anchor wall that pulled foot traffic deeper into the mall.

Front-of-store LED video wall for a national retail chain at a Karachi mall. Specified for close viewing distance, calibrated to the daylight wash from the atrium skylight, and connected to the brand’s in-house content rotation.

Summary

A national retail chain wanted a statement entrance for its newest Karachi flagship — visible from the main mall thoroughfare and capable of running broadcast-quality brand films, product reveals, and live campaigns without looking washed-out under the atrium skylight. SMDSOLUTIONS specified, supplied, installed, and calibrated a P2.5 indoor LED video wall on the storefront facade and integrated it with the chain’s content-management workflow.

The challenge

What the client needed.

  • Existing LCD video-wall array had visible bezels that broke up brand films at close viewing distance.
  • Atrium skylight pushed mid-day ambient brightness above what a typical 600-nit indoor wall could handle without looking flat.
  • Storefront depth was shallow — any solution needed to mount inside a 90 mm cavity without intruding on the customer flow line.
  • Content team needed to push campaigns from head office without on-site IT involvement for every refresh.
The solution

What we delivered.

  • P2.5 indoor SMD video wall, 6 m × 3 m, 18 sqm of live image area with seamless cabinet-to-cabinet alignment.
  • 900-nit module bin selected and re-calibrated to 750 nits operating brightness to handle the skylight wash without shortening lifespan.
  • Slim 75 mm front-maintenance cabinets — fits inside the existing storefront cavity with room for ventilation.
  • Novastar processor and a managed content-feed running over the chain’s VPN; head-office team pushes playlists directly.
  • Hand-over training for the in-store visual-merchandising team on day-to-day operation and basic fault checks.

Timeline

How the project actually ran.

PHASE 01

Site survey & spec

Viewing distances, ambient light, structural cavity, and content-feed network surveyed. P2.5 specified after a same-pitch reference visit.

PHASE 02

Engineering sign-off

Power, structural, content-feed, and HVAC plans agreed with the mall facilities team and the retail chain’s store-development office.

PHASE 03

Supply & staging

18 cabinets, 288 modules, controllers, and structure pre-tested at our facility before the night-time site move.

PHASE 04

Mount, wire & calibrate

4-day install during night windows to keep the mall trading. Calibration sweep finished day 5 ahead of opening.

PHASE 05

Hand-over & support

VM team trained on day-to-day; ongoing 24-hour SLA in place with on-site spare modules.

Outcomes

What changed after go-live.

Outcomes are stated as the client described them — we don't fabricate metrics, and we don't publish numbers a client hasn't signed off.

RESULT 01

Storefront pull-in measurably improved versus the previous LCD array — anecdotal feedback from the chain’s VM team cited dwell-time and stop-rate gains.

RESULT 02

Zero unplanned downtime over the first 14 months of operation.

RESULT 03

Content rotation handled fully by head office — zero on-site IT escalations for content updates.

RESULT 04

Calibration drift after 12 months held within ±3% on white balance, well inside the chain’s visual-standards tolerance.

The install was tight and on-spec. Trading hours were never disrupted and the wall has held its calibration through the first year.
