A Karachi religious trust running a major complex commissioned an outdoor LED screen for the open-air courtyard so the congregation could follow proceedings live during peak attendance. Inside-hall capacity routinely overflowed during major occasions; SMDSOLUTIONS specified, supplied, and installed an 8 × 4.5 m P6 outdoor LED screen tied directly to the complex’s in-house broadcast feed and managed by the trust’s own AV team.
What the client needed.
- Inside-hall capacity overflows during major gatherings — congregation in the courtyard had no live view of proceedings.
- Courtyard is fully exposed to coastal Karachi weather, including heavy monsoon and salt-laden sea air.
- Trust required a system its own volunteer AV team could operate without ongoing vendor dependency.
- Mounting the screen could not interfere with the architectural sightlines of the complex from the main courtyard gates.

- P6 outdoor SMD screen, 8 m × 4.5 m, 36 sqm with 7,000-nit modules for clear daylight readability across the courtyard.
- IP65 front / IP54 rear sealed cabinets with marine-grade hardware specified for coastal salt exposure.
- Wall-mounted on a side façade so the courtyard sightlines remain unobstructed from the main gates.
- Direct wired feed from the in-house broadcast desk inside the main hall — single-button "live" switch for the AV team.
- Volunteer AV team trained on day-to-day operation, basic fault checks, and the start-up / shutdown sequence.

How the project actually ran.
Brief & site walk
Walked the complex with the trustees and AV team. Agreed the side-façade mount approach to preserve the courtyard sightlines.
Engineering
Structural assessment of the side façade, marine-grade hardware specified, and broadcast-feed routing planned.
Supply & sealing
24 outdoor cabinets, marine-grade fixings, and the broadcast-feed bridge pre-tested and seal-checked at our facility.
Install & commissioning
8 days on-site including frame anchoring, cabinet hang, sealing, wiring, and brightness calibration.
Volunteer training
Trust’s own AV team trained on operation, start-up / shutdown, and basic fault triage. Annual maintenance window agreed.
What changed after go-live.
