Stadium-grade perimeter SMD screens for Pakistan Cricket Board.
Outdoor SMD perimeter boards, sponsor-rotation LED, and crowd-facing video walls deployed for international cricket fixtures hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board. High-brightness P6 outdoor SMD supplied, installed, calibrated, and operated by SMDSOLUTIONS.

PCB needed perimeter LED and sponsor-rotation boards to broadcast standard on its venues — calibrated for camera capture, weather-rated for daytime cricket schedules, and operable through live match windows. SMDSOLUTIONS supplied high-brightness P6 outdoor SMD perimeter boards, integrated them with the sponsor-rotation playout, and ran a match-day technical team on site.
What the client needed.
- Perimeter LED has to look correct to broadcast cameras with high refresh rate and no scan-line moiré — consumer-grade outdoor LED fails on camera.
- Daytime cricket means 6+ hours of full-sun operation; modules need 6,500+ nits and direct-sun viewing-angle correction.
- Sponsor-rotation playout has to switch on the over, on the wicket, and at end-of-innings — operated live, not scheduled.
- Setup and teardown windows are tight — full perimeter has to go from ground to ready inside the match-day load-in schedule.
- Weather contingency: light rain interrupts cricket but should not damage the LED. IP65 sealing and post-shower drying protocol required.
What we delivered.
- Outdoor P6 SMD perimeter modules selected for camera-correct refresh rate (3,840 Hz minimum) and 7,000 nit peak brightness.
- Direct-sun viewing-angle calibration on every cabinet — boards remain camera-correct at low sun-angles and through harsh midday light.
- Sponsor-rotation playout connected through a NovaStar processor stack with live-operator control panel for match-day switching.
- Modular cabinet design for rapid deployment — full ground perimeter assembles in under one day with the right crew.
- IP65 sealed cabinets with on-site spare modules and drying protocol for post-rain restarts.
- On-site technical team for the duration of fixtures — operator, calibration engineer, and spare-module technician all on standby.

How the project actually ran.
Brief & venue survey
Pre-fixture survey of perimeter dimensions, broadcast camera positions, control-room placement, and power infrastructure.
Spec & sponsor-content plan
P6 outdoor SMD chosen for camera-correct refresh; sponsor-rotation playout structure agreed with PCB commercial team.
Cabinet pre-stage
Outdoor cabinets, processor stack, and spare module stock pre-tested at SMDSOLUTIONS facility before stadium move.
Match-day deploy
Full ground perimeter assembled in under one day; calibration sweep against the broadcast cameras before first ball.
Live match operations
On-site SMDSOLUTIONS technical team operating sponsor-rotation switcher, monitoring brightness and refresh through play.
Teardown & redeploy
Modular cabinets struck inside contracted load-out window and held in pre-staged condition for the next fixture.
What changed after go-live.
Outcomes are stated as the client described them — we don't fabricate metrics, and we don't publish numbers a client hasn't signed off.
Perimeter LED held broadcast-correct refresh through full daytime match sessions with zero on-air moiré.
Sponsor-rotation switching operated live, on-the-over, through the duration of fixtures.
Full perimeter assembled and broken down inside contracted match-day load-in / load-out windows.
Zero LED-related delays across the fixture schedule — including a fixture with a brief rain interruption that completed on schedule after the IP65 sealing held.

Specific questions answered for this project.
- P6 outdoor SMD is the standard for stadium perimeter boards. It is fine enough that sponsor logos and copy read correctly to crowd viewers at 15 to 30 m, broad enough that outdoor brightness and weather sealing remain economical at the full ground perimeter. Finer pitches do not pay back at perimeter viewing distances.
