A federal government body replaced its ageing projector-and-screen setup in a senior conference room with a fine-pitch LED wall capable of displaying full government documents, mapping dashboards, and live video conferences without losing text legibility. SMDSOLUTIONS specified a P1.5 wall, integrated it with the existing closed-loop AV switching, and delivered a 6-day install inside an active facility.
What the client needed.
- Documents and mapping dashboards were rendered unreadable on the legacy projector when room lights were on.
- Senior officials sit within 2 m of the screen — pixel pitch had to disappear at that distance.
- Government IT policy required closed-loop AV — no public network exposure, no over-the-air content push.
- Install had to happen inside an active facility with controlled access windows and full clean-up between days.
What we delivered.
- P1.5 indoor SMD wall, 5 m × 2 m, ≈ 10 sqm with full HD-plus native resolution and 3,840 Hz refresh.
- Closed-loop signal chain — a hardened Crestron-style switcher, no internet bridge, no remote-access firmware.
- 600-nit operating brightness paired with the room’s tungsten lighting for natural skin tones during videoconferencing.
- Cabinets pre-staged off-site so the on-site time was strictly install, wire, calibrate — no unboxing inside the secure space.
- Hand-over package included a printed run-book and an on-site spare-module stock kept inside the facility.

How the project actually ran.
Security & spec coordination
IT, security, and facilities offices ran a joint spec review. Closed-loop AV requirement was locked before any hardware was sourced.
Engineering & approvals
Power, structural, and AV-switching plans approved through the body’s formal change-control process.
Off-site staging
Cabinets, processor, and switcher pre-tested and burned-in at our facility before sealed transport.
Controlled-access install
6 days inside the facility under access-controlled windows with daily clean-up and tool inventory.
Hand-over & training
Operations team trained on day-to-day plus the printed run-book; spare-module stock kept in the building.
What changed after go-live.
