A 12 × 6 m P10 highway billboard built to read at 80 km/h.

Outdoor LED billboard for a national out-of-home media operator on a Peshawar arterial highway. Specified at P10 for long-distance vehicle viewing, IP65-sealed against monsoon and dust, and tied into the operator’s central campaign-scheduling system for remote programming.

Summary

A national out-of-home media operator commissioned a new highway billboard on a busy Peshawar arterial route. Existing static vinyl billboards on the same stretch were charging premium rates for static, single-advertiser placements. SMDSOLUTIONS delivered a 12 × 6 m P10 outdoor LED billboard that lets the operator rotate up to 8 advertisers per minute on the same physical site, fully sealed for KP weather and remote-managed from the operator’s ops centre.

The challenge

What the client needed.

  • Site is exposed to full Peshawar summer heat, monsoon downpours, and seasonal dust storms.
  • Vehicle viewing distance starts around 250 m at 80 km/h closing speed — too far for finer-pitch outdoor LED to make economic sense.
  • Civil structure had to clear the new arterial-road setback regulation while keeping line-of-sight from the south-bound carriageway.
  • Operator manages billboards in three cities and needs a single ops dashboard — no per-site IT, no truck rolls for content changes.
The solution

What we delivered.

  • P10 outdoor SMD billboard, 12 m × 6 m, 72 sqm of live image area with 8,500-nit modules for clear daylight readability.
  • IP65 front and IP54 rear sealed cabinets with internal heaters for KP winter mornings and active rear ventilation for summer.
  • New civil pylon engineered to the updated setback rule with a stamped structural drawing.
  • 4G-bonded remote management — the operator schedules campaigns from their central ops centre and we get the same dashboard view for diagnostics.
  • Quarterly preventive-maintenance contract covering seal inspection, fan filter swap, and brightness calibration.

Timeline

How the project actually ran.

PHASE 01

Civil & permit phase

Site survey, setback compliance, structural design, and local-authority permit handled before any LED hardware was procured.

PHASE 02

Foundation & pylon

Foundation poured, pylon erected, structural sign-off obtained.

PHASE 03

Cabinet supply & install

36 outdoor cabinets supplied, mounted on the pylon frame, wired, and seal-checked.

PHASE 04

Remote-management commissioning

4G bridge configured to the operator’s ops centre. Test campaigns run end-to-end before go-live.

PHASE 05

Hand-over & PM contract

Operator team trained on the dashboard. Quarterly preventive-maintenance contract signed and first PM scheduled.

Outcomes

What changed after go-live.

Outcomes are stated as the client described them — we don't fabricate metrics, and we don't publish numbers a client hasn't signed off.

RESULT 01

Operator rotates up to 8 advertisers in a minute on a site that previously sold one static placement.

RESULT 02

No weather-related downtime through the first two monsoon seasons.

RESULT 03

Remote scheduling means content changes happen in minutes from the ops centre — no truck rolls for routine swaps.

RESULT 04

Quarterly maintenance has kept brightness drift inside the operator’s campaign-quality threshold.

The remote bridge is what makes this site profitable. We schedule campaigns from one screen and never have to drive out for a routine change.

Project FAQs

Specific questions answered for this project.

  • Vehicle viewing starts at around 250 m at 80 km/h. P10 resolves campaign messaging cleanly at that range; finer outdoor pitches like P6 or P8 add cost without delivering visible improvement at highway speed.
