P3 SMD Screen — large-area indoor LED at sensible cost.
P3 is the mid-pitch tier for big indoor halls, signage walls, transit hubs, and semi-outdoor canopies — the everyday answer when total area is large and viewers are 4 m+ away.
P3 is an LED screen with 3 mm between pixels — around 111,000 pixels per square metre. It is widely used for large indoor halls, signage walls, transit hubs, and semi-outdoor covered spaces with viewers at 4–12 m. P3 is roughly 25–30% cheaper than P2.5 and is the standard for big square footage where the budget conversation matters as much as image quality. Higher-brightness P3 variants (≥1,500 nits) are also used for semi-outdoor canopies and atriums.

Where P3 earns its place.
Pixel pitch is set by the closest viewer. Roughly 10× the pitch in millimetres gives the minimum comfortable distance — P3 sits in this zone.
- Minimum
4 m
Closer than this and pixel structure becomes obvious.
- Sweet spot
6 m
Where P3 delivers the best clarity-to-cost ratio.
- Maximum
12 m
Beyond this, finer pixel density goes to waste.
Indoor & semi-outdoor.
P3 ships in indoor and semi-outdoor cabinet variants. Indoor builds use IP30; semi-outdoor builds use IP54 with higher brightness. We confirm the right cabinet during the engineering review.

Where P3 earns its keep.
Large auditoriums & halls
Stage-side and back-wall screens in halls with viewers at 5–15 m.
Transit hubs & airports
Departure boards, advertising walls, and information panels in terminals and stations.
Large indoor signage
Big-format signage for malls, banks, and government buildings where readability counts more than ultra-fine detail.
Semi-outdoor canopies
Covered atriums, hotel porte-cocheres, and stadium concourses — high-brightness P3 with weather-resistant cabinets.
Worship & event halls
Mosques, churches, and ceremonial halls with congregations at 5 m+ across wide rows.
Sports venues & stadia
Indoor sports halls, gymnasiums, and concourse advertising walls at typical fan-viewing distance.
What P3 does well.
- Cost-efficient for large indoor walls — meaningful savings vs P2.5 across multi-square-metre installs.
- High-brightness variants extend P3 into semi-outdoor canopies, atriums, and concourses.
- Widely available across all tier-1 brands — competitive sourcing and short lead times.
- Excellent thermal headroom for long duty cycles in transit hubs and signage networks.
- Cabinet variants cover everything from premium retail to industrial signage spec.
Honest trade-offs.
- Pixel structure visible inside 3.5 m — not appropriate for boardroom-grade close-up walls.
- Indoor-rated cabinets not suitable for true outdoor exposure — specify IP54+ variants for semi-outdoor.
- Edge sharpness on small fonts is lower than P2.5 — design content with mid-range readability in mind.
P3 sits between P2.5 (sharper, indoor-only) and P3.9 (true outdoor entry-level). It is the rational pick for large indoor walls and semi-outdoor covered spaces. Choose P2.5 over P3 when viewers approach within 3.5 m. Choose P3.9 over P3 when the wall is genuinely exposed to weather — indoor-rated P3 cabinets will fail outdoors regardless of how high you set the brightness.

P3 questions, answered straight.
- When the wall is large enough that the per-square-foot saving is meaningful and the closest viewer is 4 m or further away. For walls above roughly 15 sqm with viewers at 5 m+, P3 is usually the rational specification. Step up to P2.5 only when content has dense detail or close viewers must read it clearly.
